Pilates or Yoga??? Well if you have attended both with certified instructors you will know that Pilates has more cueing and correction teaching you how to segment and use your body with breath and alignment and Yoga is about taking these skills and practising Yoga positions (sometimes exactly same positions as Pilates) with more flow and held positions sometimes more complex and balanced. Without the skill of Pilates to help stabilise and mobalise your joints and body with breath you will most likely be practising Yoga incorrectly and therefore every repetition becomes a potential injury – as reported in many physiotherapists and drs rooms rugby and yoga report the most injuries surrounding joints. Therefore come practise Pilates with many more benefits such as learning correct breathing to reduce stress levels, how to walk away from back pain together with knee butt and shoulder pain due to incorrect faulty habits/biomechanics you have gradually adapted. Im a Certified Chek Practitioner as well so my precision and skill of seeing all in class with faulty patterns and addressing them immediately. Many of my clients have been coming over 5 years and stay with me and my classes as they now move pain free and have avoided injury and back into sports and lifestyle pain free.
